The Return of Conteas

Some stories begin with a business plan. Others begin with a discovery. The return of Conteas started with a simple question: who was Conteas?
For decades, the name appeared on Swiss-made watches produced throughout the twentieth century. Pocket watches from the late 1920s, elegant dress watches from the 1950s, chronographs, divers and quartz models from later decades all carried the same signature on their dials: Conteas.
Yet little information remained.
The brand had disappeared from the market, leaving behind only scattered watches, old advertisements and traces of a forgotten chapter of Swiss watchmaking.

What began as curiosity soon became research. Vintage watches were collected and examined. Old movements were identified. Historical references were gathered. Piece by piece, a picture emerged of a Swiss watch brand that had accompanied several generations before quietly fading away during the final decade of the twentieth century.
The more we learned, the more one idea became impossible to ignore. Conteas deserved another chapter. Not as a tribute project. Not as a museum piece. But as a living watch brand built on the same principles that defined Swiss watchmaking at its best: honest design, reliable mechanics and lasting value.
The decision to revive Conteas was therefore not an exercise in nostalgia. It was an opportunity to reconnect a historic name with contemporary Swiss watchmaking.
That vision eventually became Aureus. The first watch of the modern Conteas era. Inspired by the restrained elegance of mid-century Swiss watches, Aureus combines traditional proportions, mechanical reliability and contemporary manufacturing standards.
Rather than reproducing a specific historical model, Aureus draws inspiration from the refined Conteas watches of the early 1960s and translates their character into a contemporary timepiece.
The story of Conteas spans almost a century. Its next chapter is only beginning.
